Hanging Doors and Installing Deadbolt Locks
I have hung and installed doors for 35 years. Hanging a door many can do but hanging it right is another matter. I’ve seen numerous doors that were not plumbed properly leaving the door to swing open or closed on its own.
A properly hung door needs to be plumbed left to right and inside to outside. The reveal or spacing between the door and jamb must be correct on the sides and top. The threshold must be spaced properly to stop drafts and finally the jamb must be insulated to stop drafts. I like to use window and door spray foam.
